Aho, the brand, is an authentic expression of the culture and creativity of Ngāi Tahu - the indigenous Maori people of the South Island.

Vision
Aho is a waka to carry Ngāi Tahu values, beliefs and traditions into the future.

Aho scarfs and shawls
Aho shawls are inspired by taonga created by our tīpuna, rock art and kākahu. They weave Ngāi Tahu imagery into an innovative natural fabric made from wool and possum fibre.

Ross Hemera, the artist for this range, selected iconic images from rock art – the tiki (human figure), the kurī (dog) and the mythological manu (bird man).
