Tamaora was born in Rotorua in 1984. He started his career as a pounamu artist in 2004 when he met Lewis Gardiner, who took him on as a fulltime employee and taught him the fundamentals of both modern whakairo pounamu and Maori design.
Since then he has had works included in two exhibitions at Vancouver’s Spirit Wrestler Gallery: Kaitiaki – Guardians in 2006, and Mini Masters II in 2008, that year his work was part of Toi Maori: small treasures at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.
I was raised in a world of strong cultural, moral and whanau (family) values. My new journey is focused on creating simple, effective and self-sustaining ideas that supports the rigors of daily family life. There are often conflicting thoughts about why we are here and where we want to go, so we can be free to create at will.
Purpose: To learn, experience, expand & LOVE all the great thoughts of our lives.
