Sheridan is the kaiwhakairo (carver) of Lore O Te Awa. Sheridan has a background in social work but after completing her master’s degree in indigenous studies, she fell in love with anything and everything pounamu related. Stating, “pounamu (greenstone) connects the wearer to the past, present and the future. As you wear your taonga (treasure) against your tinana (body), you absorb it’s whakapapa (genealogy) and it absorbs yours. We all crave identity, purpose and belonging. Pounamu is and will forever be a tangible relic of all that was, all that is, and all that will be… and we are part of that story; hence the establishment of Lore O Te Awa. I wanted to support that connection”.
