I was born in Rotorua in 1990 and I’m currently living in Wellington. My motivation and drive to create artwork is fueled by a genuine interest in what I do; re-creating traditional art-forms. My aim is to further my knowledge of pounamu and explore the limitations of precious metals and pounamu combined.
I started training in 2010 under a well-respected family friend Pieter Akker. Pieter offered me an opportunity to learn skills to produce work of an award-winning standard. I learnt very quickly that there is no place for sub-standard work, and that my work was a reflection of who I was, not only as an artist but as a person. Pieter employed me for eighteen months until I was offered an apprenticeship in manufacturing jewellery. Ten months into that I received the Jewellery Manufacturers Federation Apprentice of the Year Award for 2011.
I work mainly in pounamu, precious metals, and stones, but sometimes extend my practice to wood. I have shown work in various exhibitions, and also have work in both national and international private collections – Scott Parker
