Toki/Adze – pounamu/greenstone toki have a spiritual meaning associated with mana (strength).
Before toki became ornamental they were an everyday tool (adze) used in cutting and digging. They were also lashed onto expertly carved wooden shafts and wielded by powerful Maori chiefs during religious ceremonies.

Tiki – a carved abstract human form usually made of pounamu/greenstone. The tiki is said to represent the first man or the first woman, and can be worn for good luck, protection from evil, and for fertility.
