Originally from the South Island of New Zealand, Judy Newton now resides in Titirangi, West Auckland.
Judy individually shapes and engraves pieces from a range of materials such as coloured glass, stone, ceramic (broken china) and sterling silver. Using recycled materials as much as possible, Judy enjoys giving materials a new life in another form or direction that appeals. She explores being Pakeha in Aotearoa by carving symbols from Maori culture into her pieces.
“I like to create personal pieces that connect to places in Aotearoa. I find inspiration in the natural landscape of New Zealand and in Maori and pacific designs”
